| I.
SCREENING PROGRAMS |
| Many people
tend to seek medical care only when an emergency exists. When
diseases are detected early irreversible complications may be prevented.
Blood sugar, cholesterol, and Blood Pressure screenings are available
daily free of charge. The nursing staff provides appropriate
follow-ups such as health eduation, physician refferal, and counseling.

| II. STD COUNSELING |
| Confidential
counseling and /or referral for testing and treatment is available to
individuals who either may have contracted or may have been in contact
with an individual who has a sexually transmitted disease. |
| III. IMMUNIZATIONS |
| Early immunizations
of children is one of our most effective methods of controling the spread
of communicable diseases. Immunizations are given on a daily basis
by appointment. Necessary immunizations for foreign travel are also available for a small charge. Flu and pneumonia vaccines are available each fall or for a small charge. Adult immunizations are given when indicated. |

| IV. SCHOOL HEALTH |
|
The Health Department provides vision and hearing
screening in schools for a small charge. |
| V. COMMUNICABLE DISEASES |
|
Monitoring, investigating, reporting, and follow-up is provided for the county. |
|
| VI. WIC |
|
WIC is a special supplemental nutrition program for women, infants, and
children. It provides nutrition education and counseling; nutritious
foods at no cost, and linkages to other health and social service agencies.
